Job Overview
The Associate Analyst, Sustainability supports Macy’s data-driven sustainability strategy by developing and maintaining data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions. This role enables tracking of sustainability priorities, supports regulatory readiness and disclosures, and helps business teams make data-informed decisions to manage risk and drive performance. This role also supports external disclosures and audits and strengthens internal data capabilities and governance.

What You Will Do
Technical Proficiency: Experienced in tools like Power BI, SQL, Excel, and approved AI tools, with the ability to apply approved AI thoughtfully to automate repeatable work, improve data quality, summarize complex information, and generate decision-ready insights.
AI Proficiency: Practical experience using approved AI tools to improve data analysis, reporting, research, workflow automation, and quality control, with strong judgment on when human review, validation, and escalation are required.
Dashboard Development & Data Visualization: Proficiency in building intuitive, scalable dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Adobe Analytics, and Excel, tailored to both executive and analytical audiences.
Analytical Mindset: Ability to trace a data point from a front-end dashboard back to its source database to understand its underlying logic including validation it will support decision making.
Detail Oriented: Extreme focus on data accuracy and the ability to validate complex datasets across multiple platforms
Communication: Clearly and confidently with both internal teams and external partners, translating complex data into actionable insights and recommendations that support decision-making and strengthen collaboration.

Job Overview
The Associate Analyst, Sustainability supports Macy’s data-driven sustainability strategy by developing and maintaining data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions. What You Will Do
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reporting, reduce manual data handling, and improve data quality across sustainability workstreams maximizing both internal and external data sources.
- Support collection, validation, documentation, and audit-readiness of sustainability data for climate, EPR, waste diversion, traceability, and external disclosure requirements.
- Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards (e.g., Power BI) to track sustainability performance and support both tactical and executive reporting.
- Create and present actionable insights to support sustainability strategies, risk management and aid business users to effectively leverage dashboards for decision making.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data integrity issues.
- Translate business needs into technical logic for engineering teams to enable scalable solutions.
- Support and operationalize sustainability data governance, including data standards, dependencies, controls, documentation, and issue resolution. Partner with Sustainability, Finance, Private Brands, Procurement, Environmental Services, Stores/DCs, MTech and external partners and platforms to resolve data gaps and improve data accuracy.
- Support Conflict Minerals disclosure processes by coordinating supplier data collection, tracking response completeness, maintaining documentation, and preparing reporting inputs for Sustainability, Legal, and cross-functional review.
- Manage the business process including Supplier set up, required acknowledgements and audit tracking for Macy’s, Bloomingdales & Bluemercury Private Brand product ordered outside of Overseas sourcing.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Who You Are
- 3-5 years of experience analyzing data and building comprehensive dashboards in an enterprise setting.
- AI-fluent and automation-minded, with a bias for finding smarter ways to work—using AI to reduce manual effort, surface risks earlier, and help the Sustainability team move faster with stronger controls.
- Curious and proactive, always seeking out new tools, technologies, and methods to improve data accessibility and decision-making.
- Comfortable navigating both the technical and business sides of analytics, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into clear, actionable insights.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the tools and metrics you build.
- Experienced in tools like Power BI, SQL, and excited to explore emerging technologies like AI agents and advanced analytics platforms.
- Passionate about building scalable, user-centric solutions that empower teams, from executives to analysts, to make smarter, faster decisions.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to shift focus and re-prioritize work as business priorities and external factors evolve.
- This role involves performing essential job functions such as communication, collaboration, and use of office and computer systems. Responsibilities include the ability to access and review written and electronic information, and to move within the work environment and interact with workplace materials as needed to carry out job responsibilities.
- May require domestic travel 1–2 times per year.
- Hybrid work structure is based in Johns Creek, GA.
