Job Summary
The WTRS Network Administrator at the Orchard CTC, Idaho will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, and securing the Digital ranges Training System’s networks, ensuring reliable and efficient communication across all systems to enable an effective training environment for the U.S. Army. This position will provide ongoing network support, addresses availability issues, overcome performance problems, and has the administrator responsibilities for the system.

Job Summary
The WTRS Network Administrator at the Orchard CTC, Idaho will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, and securing the Digital ranges Training System’s networks, ensuring reliable and efficient communication across all systems to enable an effective training environment for the U.S. Army. This position will provide ongoing network support, addresses availability issues, overcome performance problems, and has the administrator responsibilities for the system.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Installs, maintains, and coordinates the use of network systems
- Manages network performance, diagnoses performance problems, and undertakes tuning activities to ensure network performance meets SLA requirements
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network
- Reports on overall network performance including frequent problems, underlying issues and plans to improve network availability, performance, and problem resolution
- Trains users, maintains, creates, and deletes user accounts
- Maintains and updates system security plans on all platforms
- Implements and coordinates network policies, procedures, and standards
- Applies government provided software patches and ensures proper operability of the system
- Is responsible for the system’s ensuring the system’s Authority To Operate (ATO) ais maintained
- Responsible for collecting and maintaining artifacts to meet Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) audits
- Must be able to travel CONUS and OCONUS to support training events and maintenance activities
Required Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Meet 8750 DoD Certification
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience in Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or another enterprise-grade networking equipment
- Ability to maintain enterprise-grade network infrastructure including LAN, WAN
- Automate network configuration management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell
- Configure and maintain firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions
- Conduct packet analysis and forensic investigations using Wireshark or Zeek
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network.
- Reports on overall network performance including frequent problems, underlying issues and plans to improve network availability, performance, and problem resolution.
- Trains users, maintains, creates, and deletes user accounts.
- Maintains and updates system security plans on all platforms.
- Implements and coordinates network policies, procedures, and standards.
- Must be able to travel CONUS and OCONUS to support training events and maintenance activities.
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, CISSP
- Strong proficiency in network automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Deep knowledge of multicast routing, and network segmentation strategies
- Ability to architect enterprise-grade network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN
- Experienced in design of VPNs, VLANs, and QoS policies for secure and optimized traffic routing
- Experience in maintaining and Authority To Operate and maintaining of artifacts to meet Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) audits
- Ability to analyze packet captures using Wireshark or other forensic tools
- Proven track record in high-performance network optimization
- Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years
- Associate degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or
- High School and 6+ years of relevant experience.
- One of the following or a comparable to meet DOD8750 Certification Standards: CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, CISSP
