About the Role This is a hybrid backend engineer role where you own and ship net-new product features on an AI-powered financial data platform. You’ll join a small, fast-moving team and report directly to the Head of Engineering. High autonomy — systems thinking and product mindset matter more than pedigree.

What You’ll Do

• Own end-to-end delivery of new features — from customer needs to design, implementation, and production deployment.
• Architect and build scalable backend services and APIs with Python, FastAPI, and distributed systems patterns.
• Work directly with customers and finance teams to turn business needs into technical solutions and smart trade-offs.
• Use AI coding tools to ship faster.
• Improve developer experience, observability, and reliability as the team scales.

Requirements These are hard requirements. Please check each one that applies to you.

• 2+ years (ideally 3+) as a backend-leaning software engineer.
• I’ve built and shipped product features for customers in production.
• Proficient in Python or TypeScript — ideally production Python + FastAPI.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Product mindset + end-to-end ownership from customer need to production.
• Comfortable in an early-stage, fast-moving environment with high autonomy.
• Open to hybrid — 2 days/week in-office in the Greater Boston area (or willing to relocate).
• No H-1B sponsorship available (visa transfers or O-1/TN are OK).

Nice to Have

• Experience at a product-led SaaS company or early-stage startup.
• Real AI tooling adoption in your daily workflow (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar).
• Experience with DuckDB, dbt, TypeScript.
• Fintech, financial data, or general ledger (GL) experience.
• Already based in the Boston area.

Compensation & Logistics

• $150k–$250k + meaningful equity.
• Company on a clear path to profitability.
• Hybrid — 2 days/week in-office, Greater Boston area (MA).
• No H-1B sponsorship. Visa transfers and non-H1B sponsorship (e.g., O-1, TN) are OK.
• Reports to Head of Engineering.

Interview Process

• Intro screen with the Head of Technology (30 min).
• Take-home technical assessment.
• Technical interview with the CTO & an engineer (60–90 min).
• Final interview with the CEO (30 min).
