Job Description
The engineer works within the Regional Engineering team to support Sales and Aftermarket to meet customer requirements. They will provide application support to global drawing offices for engineering orders and proposals. Where necessary, the engineer will apply standard engineering techniques and consult specialists within other Engineering Solutions teams. They will provide engineering support for troubleshooting, commissioning issues, escalating support as necessary and working with Central Expertise as needed.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Review & process application requests.
- Prepare fully detailed drawing office requests, including application instructions, to support designers in producing accurate layout (GA) and detail drawings.
- Use CAD to create proposal drawings and to aid liaison with global drawing offices.
- Follow standard techniques and procedures, selection / application of products to meet customers' needs for mechanical seals.
- Complete calculations (including heat generation, cap screw/set screw torque value, thrust load, flow rates, etc. for mechanical seals).
- Generate engineering proposals / specifications for standard and special custom products/designs for production.
- Work closely with Sales team/Project originators to confirm design meets application.
- Record activity through iProjects & Lean Kit and ensure timely response to internal customers.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to Regional Sales and Service teams.
- Work in line with John Crane standards, procedures, and policies.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities (other)
- Approve / reject / rework purchase or manufacture of fabricated parts not to drawing specification.
- Raise / process / approve Engineering Change Notice (ECN) requests.
- Manage and report personal workload to meet customer and departmental objectives.
- Along with other team members, promote a culture of continuous improvement in work processes, office housekeeping, etc.
- Along with other team members, contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment, including following appropriate HSE procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary based on departmental needs, or as required by Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical Eng. (ME) highly preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with mechanical seals and/or rotating equipment preferred.
- Working knowledge of personal computing, CAD (Solid Edge preferred) and application software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and changing priorities to complete assignments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a diverse environment with a global company is a plus.
Location & Work Schedule
- Fully onsite position located in Pasadena, TX.
- Candidates must live within commuting distance of the facility
- Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Regular onsite attendance is required.
