Position Summary
The Environmental Specialist will provide technical and administrative support for environmental compliance programs for Montauk’s renewable energy project sites. Reporting to the Director of Environmental Compliance and Permitting, this position will coordinate all monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements associated with landfill’s wellfield compliance and facility plant compliance. He/she will communicate with site operations and landfill personnel to provide support as needed to interpret and implement environmental requirements related to the wellfield or plant. This full-time position has travel requirements up to 10%.

Detailed List Of Job Responsibilities Includes
- Provide environmental oversight to site personnel to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and applicable regulations.
- Technical expert in landfill New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and other related compliance programs
- Manage wellfield and/or plant data in a manner that ensures compliance with site permits and applicable regulations
- Participate in the Environmental Audit Program.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, biological or environmental science, or an equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental science or energy type field
- Detail-oriented self-starter
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives and manage multiple priorities with various reporting deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
- Valid Drivers’ license issued by state of residence in good standing.
- Able to work in an office environment
- Required to be able to stand, sit, walk, and lift light objects
- Hearing and visual acuity are necessary for this position
- Moderate travel required
