Job Description And Duties
The successful candidate will join a skilled team responsible for developing and implementing California policies and regulations that phase out high–global warming fluorinated gases (F gases) to meet statutory emission reduction targets (SB 1383, SB 32) and support the state’s long term carbon neutrality goals. F-gases—including CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs—are potent greenhouse gases used in sectors such as refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps, aerosol propellants, and foam insulation.
In this role, the candidate will lead the management of CARB’s statewide F-gas emissions inventory and help implement HFC regulations, ensure compliance, and contribute to and future HFC related policy. The position involves close collaboration with stakeholders such as manufacturers, contractors, technicians, recyclers, and government and non-government organizations. Responsibilities include managing large data sets, understanding sector challenges, identifying solutions, and evaluating technical and cost impacts.
Additional duties include analyzing reported data, assisting with investigations of potential violations, assessing regulatory effectiveness, supporting updates to F-gas emissions inventories, and preparing briefing papers and rulemaking documents. The candidate will also provide technical and regulatory support to other U.S. Climate Alliance states developing their own F-gas regulations. Some travel is required.
