The Network Systems Administrator is responsible for the daily management, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s network infrastructure and computer systems. This role ensures the secure and efficient operation of servers, networks, and related hardware/software across all departments. The administrator monitors network performance, troubleshoots system issues, and implements updates, patches, and security measures to maintain high availability and data integrity. Working collaboratively with IT staff and end users, the Network Systems Administrator supports organizational technology needs while ensuring compliance with relevant policies, standards, and security protocols.
The Network Systems Administrator will perform a variety of Information Technology (IT) technical support functions related to systems maintenance of the local area networks (LANs) and telecommunications systems, administration of personal computer workstations and peripherals, security administration, technical support to users, troubleshooting of hardware and software problems, and installation of hardware equipment and software applications. The Network Systems Administrator will respond to and resolve difficult inquiries and complaints. They will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the City’s and Police Department technology needs.

II. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2-3 years of network and systems administration.
- Administering Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services
- Configuration of network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless controllers, access points and firewalls.
- Troubleshooting network and system performance issues
- Experience with Windows, Apple, and Linux.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and compliance frameworks.
- LAN/WAN design, system/network support, including private and public networks.
- Virtualization software, Storage Area Networks.
- Experience with CompTIA Network+, Security+, or A+, preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Window Server Certifications, preferred.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar, preferred.
- Common information security management frameworks, such as CJIS, HIPAA, PCI, and NIST, preferred. III. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete, inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration.
- Applicant must take and pass a drug, physical, and pre-placement screenings administered by the City of Mission doctor at the City’s expense.
- Applicant must have a current valid class “C” driver license from the department of Public Safety with no more than two (2) moving traffic violations within the past two (2) years.
- Must be able to meet CJIS compliance within six (6) months from date of hire. IV. SKILL ABILITY REQUIREMENT:
- Broad knowledge of IT operations and associated concepts and technologies to include: Network Security, Active Directory and Policy Management, DNS, DHCP, Database, VPN, LAN, WAN, Wireless, etc.
- Knowledge of networking protocols, systems administration, and security architectures.
- Effectively communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

- Researches, plans for, recommends and implements new networking technology as required, and within allocated budget.
- Manage and maintain physical and virtual servers, including file, print, application, and domain controllers.
- Perform routine server backups, restoration, and assist with disaster recovery planning.
- Implement and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Manage enterprise email systems such as MS Office 365, Public Safety Applications, City Applications, etc.
- Administer directory services including user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
- Assist with monitoring system logs and network traffic for suspicious activity and respond to security incidents.

- Analyze, configure, plan, install, maintain, and troubleshoot personal computers, cabling, and peripherals
- Data processing management and general administration practices and techniques.
- Assist in developing, planning, implementing, and administering division goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with the technology team: Work closely with all members of the technology team. Share knowledge, contribute to team initiatives, and support overall technology objectives.
