Compensation: $117,000 - $146,000 Annual Salary

About The Role

The Data Analyst is responsible for identifying, cataloging, and governing enterprise data assets across Din Tai Fung's technology ecosystem. This role partners with business owners to establish data definitions, data quality standards, and data governance processes that ensure trusted, consistent reporting and analytics. The Data Analyst builds and maintains key dimensional data models that unify data across restaurant operations, workforce, ordering, and training platforms, enabling accurate, cross-functional insights that support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Data Governance & Stewardship: Identify and document enterprise data sources, data owners, and data lineage across all key systems (Toast, UKG Pro, UKG WFM, Olo, HotSchedules, Wisetail, CrunchTime, Zenput). Establish and maintain a data catalog with agreed-upon definitions, business rules, and data quality standards in collaboration with business owners.
  • Dimensional Data Modeling: Design, build, and maintain unified dimensional data models (dimensions, facts, and conformed keys) that integrate data across restaurant operations, workforce management, digital ordering, scheduling, LMS, and compliance platforms. Serve as the authoritative source for shared dimensions such as location, employee, and date.
  • Data Quality Management: Define and implement data quality rules, profiling processes, and exception reporting. Partner with platform owners and IT to investigate root causes of data quality issues and drive resolution across source systems and integration pipelines.
  • Analytics & Reporting Support: Develop and support analytical datasets, reports, and dashboards in Power BI and BigQuery/Google Cloud that deliver operational and workforce insights to restaurant leadership and functional teams. Translate business requirements into data models and reporting solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Documentation: Act as a liaison between IT and business stakeholders (Operations, HR, Finance, Training) to gather data requirements, validate outputs, and ensure alignment on metrics and KPIs. Maintain thorough documentation of data pipelines, transformation logic, and semantic models.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, data engineering, or business intelligence
  • Proficiency in SQL (Google BigQuery or equivalent cloud data platform)
  • Experience with dimensional data modeling (star schema, conformed dimensions, facts)
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI or equivalent BI/visualization tool
  • Ability to document data definitions, business rules, and data governance artifacts
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to data accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit retail data environments
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following platforms: Toast POS, UKG Pro/WFM, Olo, HotSchedules, CrunchTime, Zenput, or Wisetail
  • Experience with data integration or ETL tools (e.g., Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of data catalog or governance tools
  • Advanced Power BI skills including DAX and semantic model design
  • Exposure to a data governance framework (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, or similar)

Essential Functions

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal form
  • Ability to travel occasionally to DTF restaurant locations for on-site data validation (est. ~10%)
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Special Requirements

  • Hybrid position based at Arcadia, CA corporate office. Occasional travel to DTF restaurant locations estimated at less than 10%.
