Mechanical Engineer

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, optimization, reliability, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and production processes within a fast-paced industrial facility. This role will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, and Production teams to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, increase efficiency, and support capital improvement projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in an industrial manufacturing environment and possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, process improvement, reliability engineering, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement mechanical systems, equipment modifications, and process improvements to increase plant efficiency and reliability.
• Provide engineering support for manufacturing operations, maintenance, and capital projects.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and identify root causes of recurring issues.
• Develop and execute equipment improvement plans to reduce downtime and increase production capacity.
• Support preventative and predictive maintenance initiatives.
• Lead and manage capital projects from concept through installation, commissioning, and startup.
• Develop equipment specifications, scopes of work, budgets, and project timelines.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
• Analyze production processes and recommend improvements for safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, equipment documentation, SOPs, and technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
• Participate in plant safety initiatives, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Support equipment upgrades, facility expansions, and continuous improvement projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance and operations personnel.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of engineering experience within an industrial manufacturing, food processing, chemical processing, oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment, including:
• Pumps
• Compressors
• Conveyors
• Gearboxes
• Hydraulic systems
• Pneumatic systems
• Rotating equipment
• Heat exchangers
• Industrial piping systems
• Experience with root cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Experience managing capital projects and equipment installations.
• Knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance planning processes.
