Mechanical Tooling Engineer

  • 1. Design and develop tooling and fixtures used in plating processes, considering factors such as material compatibility, process requirements, and safety standards.
  • 2. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to understand plating project requirements and develop tooling solutions to meet those needs.
  • 3. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed tooling projects, presenting recommendations to management for approval.
  • 4. Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for tooling designs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
  • 5. Oversee the fabrication and assembly of tooling and fixtures, working with external vendors or in-house teams to ensure timely delivery and quality.
  • 6. Perform testing and validation of new tooling designs, making adjustments as needed to optimize performance.
  • 7. Support the maintenance team in the maintenance and repair of existing tooling and fixtures to ensure their continued effectiveness.
  • 8. Collaborate with quality control teams to conduct inspections and ensure that tooling meets required specifications and quality standards.
  • 9. Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction through the optimization of tooling and fixture designs.
  • 10. Stay up-to-date with advancements in tooling technology and industry best practices, incorporating new knowledge into tooling design and development.

Strong knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and design techniques relevant to tooling development and fabrication.

  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and modify engineering drawings.
  • Experience with design and fabrication of tooling for plating or metal finishing processes is an advantage.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality engineering documentation.

  • COMPENSATION RANGE: $40.00-$45.00/HR

Experience

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Tooling Engineer or in a relevant engineering role within a plating factory is preferred.

Education

Preferred

  • Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field
