We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic hardware development team. In this role, you will support the design, development, and optimization of our next-generation, high-power DC fast-charging solutions tailored for fleet and commercial customers.

This is an entry-level position perfect for a proactive engineer eager to gain hands-on experience in the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure sector. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, taking concepts from the drawing board to the production floor.

As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Utilize 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) to design, modify, and optimize mechanical components and complex subassemblies
  • Set up and perform mechanical testing on components and subassemblies to ensure structural integrity, thermal performance, and compliance with industry standards
  • Develop and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) information
  • Support the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process for legacy products to ensure continuous improvement and reliability
  • Create detailed production documentation, including 2D manufacturing drawings, tolerancing, and assembly instructions
  • Generate technical training literature, user manuals, and documentation necessary for new product development (NPD) and successful market launches
  • Communicate directly with external suppliers to assess capabilities, source components, and refine design solutions for manufacturability (DFM)

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field
  • 0 to 2 years of professional experience (strong internship or capstone project experience in a related field is highly valued)
  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling software; SolidWorks experience is highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, material selection, and manufacturing processes (e.g., sheet metal, injection molding, machining)
  • Familiarity with generating 2D engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and managing BOMs
  • Experience setting up laboratory tests, utilizing data acquisition tools, and analyzing mechanical failures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors
  • A analytical mindset with a passion for troubleshooting and optimizing hardware designs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain meticulous documentation, and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience or academic projects involving EV charging systems, power electronics enclosures, or thermal management
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
  • Basic understanding of ingress protection (IP ratings) and NEMA enclosure standards for outdoor equipment

The pay range for this position is $56,335 - $96,574 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
