Global PR & Marketing Intern

NEON internships are designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience and exposure to the work that brings acclaimed independent films to audiences around the world. For students interested in careers in entertainment marketing, publicity, communications, or film, an internship with NEON offers the opportunity to contribute to real campaigns, develop practical industry skills, and learn from professionals who are passionate about independent cinema.

As a Global PR & Marketing Intern, you will support the team across a range of upcoming film releases. This internship is based in person at NEON's New York City office and will provide exposure to campaign development, audience engagement, media relations, social media strategy, and promotional initiatives that support NEON's growing slate of films.

Global PR + Mktg Intern Responsibilities

  • Support the Marketing and PR teams on campaigns for upcoming NEON releases
  • Assist with social media content creation, including brainstorming, drafting captions, and sourcing assets
  • Help track press coverage, audience engagement, and campaign performance
  • Conduct research on trends, talent, audiences, and comparable titles in both the indie and mainstream film space
  • Assist with influencer and community outreach to help build buzz around releases
  • Contribute ideas for creative activations, events, and promotional opportunities
  • Maintain organization across project trackers, calendars, and shared materials
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to support day-to-day marketing and publicity efforts

Scheduled Weekly Hours: Must be available to work in person three days per week for the duration of the internship

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $18.00 per hour. School credit is optional, and documentation can be provided if needed. No relocation assistance is available. Our interns are onsite and in person based in either the New York or the Los Angeles office.

Schedules vary based on department needs and your availability. We do our best to work around your class schedule.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate students at an accredited college or university during the internship
  • Strong interest in film, publicity, marketing, talent relations, and the independent film space. Interest in festivals and awards campaigns is a bonus
  • Must be proficient with Photoshop and Premiere. You should also be comfortable working with press clippings, Google Workspace (Docs/Sheets/Slides), and tools like Cision or Muck Rack (experience not required, but a plus)
  • Solid writing and communication skills. Ability to draft emails, press materials, or coverage reports clearly and professionally
  • Curiosity about audience behavior, cultural trends, digital platforms, and how film campaigns connect with viewers
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather information, identify trends, and communicate findings clearly
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented. Comfortable tracking press breaks, building media lists, and managing deadlines. Strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proactive and resourceful, not afraid to take initiative, ask questions, contribute ideas, jump in where needed, or dive into research projects
  • Familiarity with NEON's film slate and a passion for independent cinema are strongly encouraged
  • Prior internship experience with marketing, communciations, public relations, social media, content creation or event support is a plus, but not required
