Carex is partnering with a Biotech industry partner to hire a Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of secure, scalable, and high-availability network infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in aligning technology with business strategy, focusing on automation, security, and continuous improvement while mentoring junior team members and serving as an advisor on network investments and strategy. This is a direct hire role and would be onsite (hybrid) in Madison, WI.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient network infrastructure solutions, primarily in Cisco enterprise and hybrid environments.
• Lead decisions on network architecture and strategy to align with enterprise and security goals.
• Manage LAN/WAN environments, ensuring availability, continuity, and performance of network services.
• Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex network incidents.
• Drive network upgrades and expansion projects with minimal disruption.
• Administer and optimize hybrid environments, including Azure Stack and on-prem integration.
• Manage lifecycle of enterprise infrastructure platforms including storage, hyperconverged systems, hypervisors, and backup solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members and IT peers.
• Establish proactive monitoring and alerting using cloud-native and third-party tools.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation supporting cloud services, incidents, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support business needs and contribute to IT projects independently.
• Demonstrate clear, respectful communication and actively contribute in meetings and teamwork.
• Embrace adaptability, apply feedback constructively, and continuously seek process improvements.

What You’ll Bring

• Associate degree in IT, high school diploma, or equivalent experience in network engineering roles.
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in network systems administration or engineering.
• Advanced expertise in L2/L3 networking (VLANs, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, etc.).
• Experience with Cisco SDN architecture and technologies such as VXLAN, GRE, and SD-WAN.
• Proficiency with Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, DNA, ISE, firewalls, and wireless solutions.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects and mentor others.
• Familiarity with tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Splunk.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM, and cost optimization.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications and ability to adapt to emerging technologies.
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer systems or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in network systems administration or engineering.
