Agentic Engineer
About the Company
We are hiring for a high-growth, Series A startup redefining the industry with an AI-native research and task automation platform. Backed by leading global venture investors, we are building the bridge between complex data and actionable human insight. Founded by a team of industry veterans from top-tier AI research labs and leading institutions, we are creating agents that can read, analyze, and integrate disparate data sources with the accuracy and privacy demanded by enterprise-grade clients.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team in New York City. This is an opportunity to move beyond simple chatbots and build autonomous agents that reason, research, and execute complex professional workflows.
Responsibilities
- Build Autonomous Agents: Design and implement scalable multi-modal LM-based agents capable of complex reasoning and task execution.
- Innovate on Architecture: Research and build solutions involving RAG, semantic search, knowledge representation, function calling, and LLM fine-tuning.
- Define Quality: Research and build rigorous evaluations, metrics, and benchmarks to ensure model reliability in high-stakes environments.
- From Lab to Live: Present innovative solutions through POCs and demos, then refactor and optimize that work into high-quality, production-ready code.
- Collaborate: Partner with product managers, designers, and software engineers to integrate AI capabilities into the core user experience.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a relevant quantitative field.
Required Skills
- Framework Expertise: Strong programming experience with Python and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow).
- Production Mindset: Experience writing robust, production-ready code rather than just working in research notebooks.
- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with the latest literature on Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI agents.
- Math Foundation: Solid grasp of core ML concepts and related mathematics (linear algebra, probability, statistics, and multivariate calculus).
- Communication: Ability to brainstorm technical research ideas and present innovative solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in industrial research (internships or previous engineering roles).
- Evidence of academic research through projects or publications.
Pay range and compensation package
NYC Benefits: Competitive salary and equity packages, comprehensive health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and a flexible hybrid work model in Manhattan.
Equal Opportunity Statement
This role is filled through Merit, a talent platform designed to respect your time and provide transparency. We are committed to diversity and inclusivity.
