Pay: $95,000-$125,000/year
Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer will support the growth and automation of the company by designing, drafting, and planning mechanical parts, electrical systems, and equipment used in automated packaging processes within the facility. This position requires strong technical design skills, creativity, and collaboration to bring automation and process-improvement projects from concept to completion.
Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, and automated packaging equipment components.
· Create accurate 2D and 3D models, detailed drawings, and layouts using AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Sketchup and other engineering software.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (maintenance and operations) to ensure designs meet functional, safety, reliability, and efficiency requirements.
· Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and equipment specifications.
· Support project planning, cost estimation, and implementation phases of engineering projects.
· Support equipment installation, testing, and troubleshooting as needed on the production floor.
· Recommend design improvements or modifications to enhance performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
· Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety standards and company quality guidelines.
· Support packaging material die-line specification and design.
· Support barcode/case-code development for product specifications.
· All other tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
· Must be fluent in English
· Must be 18 years of age or older
· 2-4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience may be considered).
· 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or equipment engineering, preferably in manufacturing or packaging environments.
· Proficiency in 3D modeling and drafting software.
· Experience designing for automated or mechanical systems is a plus.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial machinery design.
· Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and specifications.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Detail oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Primarily office-based with regular time spent on the production floor to observe or assist with installations and testing. Exposure to manufacturing environments, machinery, and standard safety conditions. Travel may be required to our Cando, ND facility or for training events if needed.
