Head of Brand Marketing
Location: Gig Harbor, WA (On-site only — no remote, no exceptions)
Reports to: Founder & CEO
Compensation: $180,000/yr + medical/dental/vision, matching 401(k), paid vacation, and more
Role Type: Full-time, Exempt
Farmgirl Flowers started in my apartment 15 years ago with a stack of burlap, a few buckets, and a belief that flowers could be more honest, more beautiful, and more meaningful than what was out there. We’ve grown a lot since then — but we’ve never stopped caring about how we do things.
This role exists because we’re at a moment where the next chapter in our story is unfolding in real time. We’re building our first-ever Farm Quarters, growing some of our own flowers for the first time, and shaping the future of the company in a very tangible, hands-on, and long-term way. I’m looking for someone who’s excited to be in it — documenting, shaping, and sharing this chapter as it happens.
I care deeply about integrity, quality, and people who do what they say they’ll do. I’m looking for a creative leader with real depth and judgment who can dream big, execute beautifully, and bring ideas all the way across the finish line — without needing to be chased or constantly directed.
If you’re someone who loves building something real, telling stories with heart and intention, and rolling up your sleeves to do great work alongside a small, committed team, I’d love to hear from you.

About The Role
Farmgirl Flowers is looking for an exceptional, hands-on Head of Brand Marketing to lead all brand and marketing for the company at a truly pivotal moment in our story.
This role owns the Farmgirl brand end-to-end — strategy, storytelling, content, creative, and execution — and will manage a small but mighty team. You’ll be responsible for how Farmgirl looks, sounds, feels, and shows up everywhere: campaigns, partnerships, email, social, packaging, customer experience, and the stories we tell as we build our Farm Quarters and the next chapter of the company.
This is not a “set the strategy and delegate” role. We’re looking for a do-er leader — someone who can think big, write beautifully, shape compelling visuals, make smart decisions, and still roll up their sleeves to get the work done alongside the team.
This role requires someone who takes ownership seriously — who does what they say they’ll do, follows through without reminders, and brings ideas all the way across the finish line.
You’ll work closely with our Founder & CEO and cross-functionally with every department at the company - from Product and Operations to Engineering and Customer Care. You’ll be deeply embedded in the day-to-day life of Farmgirl, documenting and shaping our story as it unfolds in real time.
If you’re professional, mature, wildly creative, and energized by building something meaningful with your hands — this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
Brand & Marketing Leadership
We believe clarity is kind, so a few things this role is not:
Farmgirl Flowers is a 15-year-old, bootstrapped, female-founded (and mostly female-run) e-commerce company with a big heart, a strong point of view, and a deep commitment to quality. This role comes at an extraordinary moment. We’re building our Farm Quarters, expanding our physical footprint, and telling our story in a more intentional, meaningful way than ever before.
You won’t be inheriting a playbook — you’ll be helping write the next chapter. If you’re excited by ownership, creativity, responsibility, and the chance to shape a brand with soul, grit, and beauty — we’d love to meet you. Along with your resume, please include a short note sharing why this role interests you, along with a few examples of past brand marketing work — whether writing, video, photography, or a mix.
Benefits
Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage are also available for employees. Employees can enroll in our Flexible Spending Accounts program and the company’s 401(k) plan, which includes a company match. Fringe benefits are available for this role. Lastly, this role is subject to our paid time off/sick policy and will receive ten (10) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

What You’ll Do
Brand & Marketing Leadership
- Own and lead all brand and marketing for Farmgirl Flowers — strategy, execution, and results.
- Manage and mentor a small internal marketing team, setting clear priorities, high standards, and a culture of ownership and follow-through.
- Serve as the steward and protector of the Farmgirl brand — visual, verbal, emotional, and experiential — across every touchpoint.
- Ensure everything we put into the world feels intentional, beautiful, and unmistakably Farmgirl.
- Lead the storytelling of the Farmgirl brand — past, present, and future — with a strong point of view and emotional clarity and maturity.
- Personally contribute to and oversee writing across campaigns, brand narratives, email, web, launches, and key brand moments. Our tone is warm, authentic, and real — like talking to your best friend — so you’ll need to write with that same clarity, warmth, and ease.
- Shape and execute visual storytelling through photo, video, and on-the-ground documentation of our people, product, and Farm Quarters build.
- Identify meaningful moments worth sharing — not just adding to the already noisy marketing landscape.
- Lead and participate in content creation: photo shoots, video shoots, styling, copywriting, editing, and creative production.
- Oversee and contribute to seasonal and evergreen content calendars across social, email, web, and campaigns.
- Maintain and evolve brand guidelines, ensuring consistency while allowing the brand to grow.
- Lead internal and external creatives: photographers, videographers, and designers — and jump in personally when needed to get things done.
- Partner with the team to ensure creative supports business goals: awareness, engagement, conversion, and retention.
- Oversee campaigns, launches, and partnerships from concept through execution.
- Balance long-term brand building with performance-minded marketing, without sacrificing taste or integrity.
- Make smart, scrappy decisions that maximize impact with limited resources. As a bootstrapped business, we’re thoughtful with every dollar — and throwing money at a problem is never the answer.
- Own and manage all external partnerships — from With Heart Partners (our giving arm) to brand, media, and creative collaborators — ensuring every relationship reflects Farmgirl’s values and standards.
- Serve as a primary external face of Farmgirl, representing the brand with professionalism, warmth, sound judgment, and strong follow-through.
- Lead all press and media efforts, including television segments, magazine features, podcasts, and speaking opportunities.
- Act as the day-to-day point person for our external publicist, setting priorities, shaping narratives, and ensuring timely execution against PR goals.
- Prepare for and oversee press moments end-to-end — from working with our publicist on pitches to prep, on-site presence, messaging, and thoughtful post-event follow-through.
- Make thoughtful, timely decisions on partnership and press opportunities, balancing brand integrity, impact, and operational realities.
- Work with Engineering and Product on how the Farmgirl story is told across our website — from homepage and landing pages to PDPs — ensuring the site feels like a living expression of the brand, not just a place to transact, and that every page is cohesive, intentional, and unmistakably Farmgirl.
- Collaborate with Operations and Customer Care to ensure the brand experience extends through receiving, unboxing, delivery, and customer support.
We believe clarity is kind, so a few things this role is not:
- A remote role. This job is fully on-site in Gig Harbor, WA. Being present — in the design studio, the grounds, the office, and the day-to-day life of Farmgirl — is essential to telling our story well. No remote. No exceptions.
- This role requires presence during our busiest seasons—Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. These are all-hands-on-deck moments at Farmgirl, and we need people who are ready to roll up their sleeves and dive in alongside the rest of the team (including leadership). Blackout periods for PTO apply around these peak floral holidays, so if you're looking for a role with quiet seasons and flexibility around winter holidays, this likely isn't it.
- A “big idea, small effort” job. This is not a role where you hand off the work and wait for it to come back. You’ll lead a team, but you’ll also be in the work — writing, reviewing, shooting, editing, shaping, and finishing.
- A purely strategic or purely creative. We need someone who can think strategically and execute beautifully. If you prefer to live only in decks or only in execution without ownership, this won’t be the right fit.
- A place for ego or preciousness. We care deeply about quality and taste, but we’re scrappy, practical, and focused on getting things done.
- A junior leadership role. This position requires maturity, judgment, and comfort in making real decisions.
- A slow-moving environment. Priorities shift, timelines are real, and the work matters.
- A role for someone who needs to be chased. We’re looking for someone who does what they say they’ll do — on time, with care, and without reminders. Strong follow-through is non-negotiable here.
- About chasing trends for the sake of it. We care about meaningful storytelling and work that feels honest and lasting.
- 10+ years of experience leading brand and/or marketing, ideally in DTC, lifestyle, design-driven, or consumer brands.
- A highly capable creative leader who is equally strong in strategy and execution.
- An excellent visual storyteller with strong instincts for photography, video, styling, and composition.
- A genuinely strong writer who tells clear, emotional stories without fluff — but is still warm, engaging, and easy to connect with.
- Known for exceptional follow-through and accountability. Doing what you say you’ll do — without reminders — is a core expectation of this role and a non-negotiable for our CEO.
- Comfortable managing people and doing the work yourself.
- Organized, decisive, and able to take projects and tasks all the way across the finish line.
- Professional, emotionally mature, and confident, working closely with founders and senior leadership.
- Energized by being on-site, close to the work, and deeply embedded in the life of the company.
- Excited by documenting something real as it’s being built — not just polishing it after the fact.
