This role works independently on moderately complex projects while collaborating with production, quality, maintenance, and suppliers to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
Job Description
- Develop manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by analyzing production plans, capacity requirements, and process capabilities.
- Evaluate existing and proposed manufacturing processes to identify equipment needs, efficiency improvements, and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Recommend and justify new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors, conducting equipment trials, and evaluating equipment performance, reliability, service history, and vendor support.
- Prepare detailed equipment cost projections, including capital investment, return on investment (ROI), and anticipated productivity or cost savings.
- Lead and support equipment installation and commissioning activities by coordinating with vendors, maintenance, and installation crews to ensure successful startup.
- Design and implement equipment modifications and process improvements to meet production, quality, and safety requirements.
- Develop and deliver operator training programs, including work instructions, reference materials, and on-the-job support.
- Maintain process integrity by developing, updating, and enforcing manufacturing policies, procedures, methods, and engineering standards.
- Maintain accurate equipment documentation and records, including specifications, maintenance data, and change history within equipment databases.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements applicable to manufacturing operations.
- Protect organizational value by maintaining confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of manufacturing and operational goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Manufacturing engineering experience in a production or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience with manufacturing equipment selection, installation, and process optimization.
- Proven ability to develop and justify capital equipment proposals, including cost analysis and ROI calculations.
- Experience supporting equipment commissioning, validation, and production ramp-up.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, GMP, OSHA), as applicable to the industry.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
- Proficiency with engineering documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation.
