Responsibilities
Friends Hospital is the nation's oldest private psychiatric hospital, located on a beautiful 100-acre campus in Philadelphia, PA. Friends Hospital offers a continuum of care including level of care assessments; specially designed inpatient units for adolescents, adults, and older adults; and a private residential rehabilitation program. Friends Hospital is easily accessed via public transportation and has free, safe, on-site parking.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Performance Improvement, serves as the Patient Advocate for Friends Hospital. The patient advocate will coordinate the investigation, resolution, documentation, and reporting of all grievances received from patients, guardians of family members, as appropriate, to complainants, staff, management, and leadership. The patient advocate collaborates with departmental leaders to ensure resolution of concerns presented.
Part-Time
20 hours / week, preferably 5 days / week, 4 hours / day
prefer 7:30am-11:30am or 8am-12pm
Job Specifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Patient Advocate must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the department and hospital and meet with the patients.
Education: Bachelor’s degree. Clinical, concentrations preferred.
Experience: Prefer 2 years working in Behavioral Health. Knowledge of patient advocate role and function preferred.
Licensure/Certification: None
Knowledge: Knowledge of and skills working with different departments within Friends. Knowledge of patient advocate and its importance within the facility.
Environmental Conditions: General office environment and office equipment. Extensive use of computer and monitor.
