Position Summary

The Community Engagement Recruiter is responsible for building strong local partnerships and developing creative outreach strategies to attract mission-driven candidates to Beacon Specialized Living. This role focuses on lead generation through community networking—connecting with churches, schools, workforce programs, and other community organizations to build sustainable talent pipelines.

Primary Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Relationship Building

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations including churches, high schools, community colleges, universities, workforce development agencies, veterans’ groups, and employment offices.
  • Represent Beacon at community events, job fairs, and volunteer initiatives to promote employment opportunities.
  • Partner with faith-based organizations to share open positions through bulletins, newsletters, job boards, and job fairs.
  • Collaborate with local community leaders to identify new recruitment channels and creative outreach opportunities.
  • Create and maintain a calendar of outreach events and engagement activities across Southwest Michigan.

Recruitment & Lead Generation

  • Generate candidate leads for Direct Support Professional (DSP) and related roles through local networking, community referrals, and outreach events.
  • Track leads, conversions, and hiring outcomes to evaluate outreach effectiveness.
  • Partner with Recruiting and Onboarding teams to ensure candidate handoff and communication are seamless.
  • Support the development of marketing materials and social media content to promote community engagement activities and hiring events.
  • Attend workforce development meetings and maintain a visible presence within local employment networks.

Program Development & Reporting

  • Build a repeatable model for community-based recruiting that can be scaled to other regions.
  • Measure results using clear KPIs such as number of leads generated, partnerships established, events attended, and hires made.
  • Stay current on community hiring trends, local workforce changes, and best practices in outreach recruiting.

Education And Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in recruiting, community outreach, marketing, or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Self-starter who enjoys networking, relationship-building, and working independently in the field.
  • Familiarity with local community resources, schools, churches, and workforce agencies preferred.
