Position Summary
- Design, plan, and supervise; develop and implement improved ways to extract, process, and use raw materials
- Develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology
- Analyze the impact of the products they develop or the systems they design on the environment and on people using them
- Determine the causes of breakdowns; test manufactured products to maintain quality
- Estimate the time and cost to complete projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of quality engineering techniques and methods in an assigned area or project with minimal supervision.
- Provides support to manufacturing for quality improvement and new product launch.
- Interfaces with Product Design, Purchasing, YMC, YMMC and 3rd party customers.
- Perform advanced quality planning on new model introductions which includes PPAP management.
- Develop and implement control plans, product inspection plans and work instructions.
- Proficient in developing and implementing process controls, SPC and other statistical methods.
- Responsible for quality data collection, data analysis to identify the quality defect trends, developing and implementing quality metrics to monitor internal quality performance.
- Provide data analysis and facilitate Kaizen/PDCA events.
- Responsible for containment events.
- Provide clear instructions, oversee and certify effective sort/rework.
- Lead small groups for Recurrence Prevention of problems found, 5 Why analysis including containment.
- Work MRB (Material Review Board) providing proper guidance for nonconforming material, including disposition, root cause analysis and recurrence prevention with cross-functional team members from ME, SQE, Mfg.
Education / Experience:
- 4 year technical degree required with 3-5 years experience in Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment, and/or 8-10years equivalent experience without a degree.
- Fluent experience with Mitutoyo or FARO CMM equipment.
- Demonstrated application of engineering skills and problem solving techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with applied experience working in a team environment.
- ISO9000/QS9000 or TS16949 experience required.
- Proficient personal computer skills including MS-Office (PowerPoint, Excel) and email.
- Maintains sense of urgency.
- Highly organized and strong planning skills.
- Metalworking experience with stamping presses, MIG/TIG welding, steel and aluminum materials, paint finishes.
Additional Requirements:
- Provide quality engineering support to ensure metalworking and welding production lines produce at peak performance.
- Identify problems, provide containment instruction and supervision, and assist problem areas, with root cause analysis and recurrence prevention.
- QE is responsible for all quality aspects from prototype to production.
- QE must work with many cross-functional groups to insure production runs at world class level.
