Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
In this role as a Network Development Engineer, you will be part of the lab technical team designing and building the network that enables Leo. Define the long term vision, design the technical solutions, and implement the design. This role is focused on our terrestrial network.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers and leaders across the org to define connectivity solutions for Leo.
- Provide technical leadership for Leo's terrestrial network plan and implementation for sites around the world.
- Define network solutions for Leo's launch, manufacturing, and lab sites.
- Support and champion the full lifecycle of networking, including enabling improved support tooling and monitoring capabilities.
- 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
- 1+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
- 3+ years of working with Cisco and/or Juniper network gear
- 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
- 3+ years building networking solutions for global deployments
- Experience with AWS and AWS networking products such as Direct Connect and Transit Gateway
