Network Engineer
Duties & Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for the supporting the network at Talos Energy including but not limited to:

- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of new network solutions across a complex environment, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless, and VoIP.
- Serve as the top-tier escalation point for resolving complex network performance, security, and connectivity issues.
- Configure, install, and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Fortigate).
- Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and standards to ensure maximum security, performance, and uptime.
- Actively monitor network performance, traffic flow, and utilization, using tools to detect anomalies and proactively identify potential issues.
- Perform routine security audits with security team and implement necessary safeguards and upgrades to defend against cyber threats.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and cross-training to other IT staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support technology integration and meet business objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new networking technologies.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours support for critical network issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of experience in network engineering or related field.
- Proven, hands-on experience designing and managing complex multi-site network infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP), switching, and network segmentation.
- Expertise in configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, and other network security technologies.
- Knowledge of operational technology (OT) systems and segmentation principles based on the Purdue Model will be beneficial.
- Ability to work independently with effective time management.
- Experience with cloud networking concepts and platforms (e.g., Azure).
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Knowledge of VoIP, QoS, and Cisco Unified Communications.
- Possession of certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is preferred.
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
- Ability to travel without limitation, including airplanes, helicopters and boats.
