Overview

The Talent Acquisition Sourcing Strategist plays a crucial role in identifying, engaging, and attracting top talent to support organizational hiring needs. This position focuses heavily on proactive sourcing, passive candidate outreach, talent pipeline development, and strategic use of digital platforms and job boards. The Sourcing Strategist partners closely with Talent Acquisition team members and department leaders to understand workforce needs and build targeted sourcing strategies. This role is also responsible for managing job board utilization, coordinating and attending hiring events, and contributing to community outreach efforts that strengthen Mercyhealth’s talent pipeline.

This position can be located at either HR Buliding in Janesville, WI or Rockford, IL

Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Talent Pipeline Development

  • Proactively sources passive candidates through direct outreach, networking, resume databases, talent communities, social platforms, and niche recruitment resources.
  • Develops and maintains pipelines for high-volume, hard-to-fill, and critical roles across the organization.
  • Partners with recruiters to understand role requirements and develop effective sourcing strategies for current and future openings.
  • Conducts initial outreach and engagement with potential candidates and routes qualified leads to recruiters.


Hiring Events & Community Engagement

  • Creates, coordinates, and participates in hiring events, career fairs, community events, and virtual recruitment sessions to increase candidate flow and build brand presence.
  • Works collaboratively with Talent Acquisition team members to manage event logistics, marketing coordination, on-site support, and post-event follow-up.
  • Supports community pipeline initiatives, including job shadowing, externships, internships, clinical placements, and youth apprenticeship programs.


Digital Outreach & Job Board Management

  • Manages online job boards, job postings, job aggregators, and related vendor relationships to ensure optimal visibility of open positions.
  • Ensures job postings are accurate, current, and effectively categorized for maximum reach.
  • Utilizes social media—primarily for sourcing and outreach—to locate talent, share priority openings, and engage candidate communities.
  • Identifies and evaluates new sourcing tools and platforms to maintain a competitive edge in talent acquisition.


Data, Tracking & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitors candidate traffic, job board performance, and sourcing outcomes to recommend improvements and drive results.
  • Tracks expenditures related to job boards, sourcing tools, and recruitment advertising.
  • Monitors trends in online employer reviews and escalates patterns or concerns to Talent Acquisition Leadership.
  • Contributes to special projects that enhance the sourcing function, candidate pipelines, recruitment processes, or community talent initiatives.


Partnership & Collaboration

  • Works collaboratively with department leaders to understand workforce patterns, turnover trends, and forecasted hiring needs.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships across the system to ensure alignment between sourcing efforts and departmental staffing requirements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships within the local HR/talent acquisition community to strengthen Mercyhealth’s presence and talent pipeline.
  • Participates in cross-functional efforts with Talent Acquisition colleagues and various departments when needed.

  • Performs other duties and projects assigned, based on organizational needs, skill set, and areas of interest.


Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, or related field required.
  • Experience in sourcing, recruiting, talent acquisition, or HR coordination required
  • Experience in a healthcare, nonprofit, or high-volume recruitment environment preferred
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and sourcing tools.
