The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, maintenance, and administration of a variety of enterprise servers and applications on Windows and Linux operating systems. This role requires handling the implementation of multiple projects while collaborating with other IT groups and teams across the enterprise. The position involves working on complex issues that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors and networking with key contacts outside their own area of expertise for issue identification and resolution.


Responsibilities:


  • Engage in design, implementation, testing, and deployment of new operating systems, software, and cloud technologies.
  • Work with vendors to provide hardware and software recommendations and procurement.
  • Install and maintain Windows servers and all related infrastructure, including backup/restore, security policies and virus protection, tuning, capacity planning, and monitoring of all resources to ensure high availability of all services provided.
  • Implement, respond to, and tune server monitoring and alerting.
  • Research software and hardware to provide recommendations on current and future systems.
  • Support for Microsoft 365 stack, including Azure, Entra, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Skype for Business, and Teams.
  • Support for Active Directory, SQL, IIS, File & Print servers, and both custom and COTS applications.
  • Deployment and support of Virtual Machine Manager, Hyper-V hosts, and VMs.
  • Work with the Director of Security in support of system security and integrity of data and computing resources.
  • Escalation point for internal customers and IT staff.
  • Promote and maintain server patch management practices.
  • Monitor capacity and performance.
  • Develop scripts for automation using PowerShell.
  • Manage and participate in projects as assigned, working with team members across the company to deliver project goals.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and present recommendations and justifications on hardware and software purchases.
  • Provide mentoring and cross-training to other IT staff in areas of expertise.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.


Key Qualifications and Required Skills:


  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a related field.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related technical disciplines is preferred.
  • SCOM, SCCM, and DPM administration experience is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of networking, Active Directory/LDAP, Group Policy, WMI, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure core technologies.
  • Solid knowledge of virtualization.
  • Experience with storage (SAN/NAS).
  • Ability to multitask and comfortably work on multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work well under pressure.
  • Willingness to accept and share new ideas and participate in a team environment.

Salary Range ($117,500-$176,300)
