Job Summary
The Mechanical Designer creates assembly layout models and detail drawings based on design engineering requirements. Carries out engineering changes on development and existing products to ensure that all details on the ECO and drawings (including BOM, notes, dimensions, change notice information etc.) are complete and accurate. Utilizes the Product Data Management (PDM) system for documentation control and workflow.

Job Summary

- Essential Job Functions
- Create and check assembly layouts and detail part drawings for new projects and legacy programs.
- Ensure that drawings are clear, accurate and neat and follow industry drafting standards.
- Define required manufacturing information on drawings to permit fabrication and inspection of product.
- Maintain project 3D models and drawings using Enovia.
- Perform customer print reviews and identify necessary changes to drawings.
- Ensure the successful completion of assigned projects to meet on-time commitments.
- Provide technical support to various personnel as needed. Assist operators as required.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Travel Specificity
- Potential travel between Irvine, California and other locations up to 10%.
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. Persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. Persons as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. green card holder), political asylee or refugee.
Candidate skills & requirements
- Associates degree in Drafting Technology, Mechanical Design, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in mechanical component design and detailing experience using CAD.
- Experience as a Mechanical Designer is a plus.
- 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in Solidworks, NX, or other 3D CAD tool
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Knowledge of the industry drafting standards and practices: ASME Y 14.5
- Familiarity with military and/or commercial design and material process standards preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
- Knowledge of PDM systems for documentation control and workflow -experience with Enovia PLM system preferred
