The Director, Crisis & Travel Risk Management, is responsible for the leadership and execution of the enterprise crisis and travel risk management programs. This role will oversee a team of direct reports. This position will maintain and continuously enhance the company’s crisis management framework, ensuring effective travel risk management practices, standard crisis management processes, standard global crisis response protocols, and will lead the design and implementation of crisis management exercises across the organization.

Role Overview

As the Director of Crisis Response & Travel Risk, you will lead GE Aerospace’s crisis management and travel risk programs, ensuring organizational readiness and alignment with industry best practices. This role involves designing and executing crisis management exercises, maintaining travel risk protocols, and serving as a senior liaison during crisis events. You will also mentor and develop direct reports while fostering collaboration across business units and functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the GE Aerospace Crisis Management Plan (CMP), ensuring organizational readiness and alignment with industry best practices.
  • Design, coordinate, and execute the crisis management exercise program, including scenario development, executive engagement, facilitation, and after-action reporting.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce the Travel Risk Management Policy and program, with emphasis on high-risk travel protocols, risk assessments, and employee advisories.
  • Serve as senior liaison during crisis events, coordinating with executive leadership, legal, communications, operations, risk pillar focals, and other stakeholders to ensure effective and timely response.
  • Promote integration and alignment across risk functions to enable a comprehensive and unified enterprise risk posture.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop direct reports, ensuring talent development, succession planning, and high standards of performance.
  • Provide direct assistance in security operations, crisis management response, documentation, coordination, management, and training as directed by the Global Security Team.

Risk Assessment and Business Acumen: The ability to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential threats and vulnerabilities, and to develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Understand the internal and external factors that impact the organization including market trends, competitive landscape and regulatory requirements.

Information & Analytical Thinking: the ability to collect, analyze and interpret information from various sources to anticipate and counteract potential security threats, while thinking critically and analytically to solve complex security problems and make informed decisions.

Adaptability and Resilience: The capacity to adapt to changing security landscapes and recover quickly from setbacks or incidents.

Interpersonal Skills & Customer Service: Strong interpersonal abilities, effective networking and collaboration capabilities, and cultural competence. High emotional intelligence and self-awareness are essential for fostering a respectful approach to security operations.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey security policies, procedures, and incident reports to stakeholders at all levels. Active listening & relationship building.

Project Management: The ability to plan, execute, and oversee security projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Security Studies, Business Continuity, Emergency Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in crisis management, travel risk management, security, or related fields in a global corporate or government setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing direct reports, with a record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Knowledge of crisis management frameworks, business continuity principles, exercise design and facilitation, and travel risk management best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage and brief senior executives.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and influence stakeholders across a complex organization.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPP, CBCP, CEM, or equivalent.
  • Experience integrating multiple programs into a holistic resilience framework.
  • Proven track record in designing and executing enterprise-wide crisis management exercises.
  • Ability to foster collaboration across business units and functions in a global environment.

Additional Information

  • Work Shift: Full-time role with potential for crisis response outside standard business hours.
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours.
  • Work Authorization: Must comply with U.S. immigration and legal requirements.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance.
  • Physical Requirements: May involve standing, walking, and lifting as required by the role.
