COTA Duties Include:

  • Provides skilled occupational therapy services/interventions in accordance with physician orders under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Responds to requests for service by relaying information and referral to Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Implements and modifies the patient’s occupational therapy plan of treatment with OTR supervision
  • Monitors patient responses to treatments and modifies it during treatment sessions as necessary.
  • Observe residents and write progress reports.
  • The Occupational Therapy Assistant will be responsible for documenting patient treatments, changes in condition and other pertinent information as required.


COTA requirements include:

  • Must have an active Occupational Therapy Assistant license in good standing in the state of NY.
  • Long term care experience preferred
  • Ability to manage patients with different types of personalities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
