Senior Technical Business Analyst

Position Overview

We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Technical Business Analyst to serve as a strategic liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, and external partners. This role is instrumental in driving operational efficiency and delivering scalable cloud-based solutions— including enhancements to our Salesforce platform which includes our underwriting system.

You’ll lead requirements gathering, document workflows, write user stories, and support agile delivery. Your work will directly influence business outcomes, customer satisfaction, and the successful execution of enterprise-level initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with SMEs across Underwriting, Finance, and Operations to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, workflows, UI mockups, logic rules, and data mappings.
  • Translate business needs into clear, testable user stories with acceptance criteria; maintain a primed product backlog.
  • Support functional testing, unit test validation, and defect tracking in Jira.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in underwriting and insurance systems, championing end-user needs and business value.
  • Maintain documentation including business rules, configuration workbooks, technical specifications, and schema designs for current-state and future-state processes.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and brainstorming sessions to align on business goals and system enhancements.
  • Deliver training sessions and create support materials to aid adoption of new system functionalities.

Skills & Competencies

  • Communication & Facilitation: Strong verbal and written skills; able to lead productive discussions and adjust tone for diverse audiences.
  • Analytical Thinking: Skilled in identifying root problems, evaluating solutions, and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Technical Literacy: Familiarity with SDLC (Agile & Waterfall), APIs, cloud platforms, and relational databases (Salesforce a plus).
  • Tools Proficiency: Jira, Confluence, Visio, LucidCharts, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Salesforce FSC environment experience a plus
  • Adaptability & Initiative: Comfortable in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities; proactive and solution-oriented.
  • Team Leadership: Informal leadership presence with the ability to guide teams and foster collaboration.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7+ years of experience in business analysis, requirements gathering.
  • 3+ years writing user stories in Agile environments.
  • Experience with Salesforce, insurance underwriting, and SQL is a strong plus. Benefits

Pursuant to state guidelines and regulation, the salary range for this position is $97,000 to $104,000, and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
