Pay Range: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour + Prevailing Wage Jobs

Shift/Hours: Monday – Friday; Weekends as needed.

Position Purpose/Summary

Under the general supervision of the Branch Supervisor, a Yard Technician is responsible for maintaining all fence, sanitation, and storage equipment in clean and proper working condition and ensuring that all equipment leaving the yard meets Knight’s Site Services quality standards. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work with others to ensure the yard flows smoothly. Assist in preparing material for jobs and/or events.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Inspect, wash, and perform minor repairs of equipment and other company assets.
  • Conduct minor facility maintenance and minor repairs as required.
  • Operate service truck, P&D truck, and fence truck and perform associated duties as assigned.
  • Report all safety hazards and incidents to Branch Supervisor.
  • Report any damage or problems found on equipment to Branch Supervisor.
  • Safely load and unload equipment and materials onto vehicles.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of yard.
  • Follow directives accurately and efficiently.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Initiative-taker.
  • Reliable, with a high level of integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Ability to follow basic instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literate – routing and tablet information for service needs.

Skills

Language skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one conversation to customers, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency, measurement, weight, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Non-Commercial California Class C Driver’s License and vehicle insurance at no less than California State minimum required limits of liability.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision & ability to focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (in some cases extreme heat/cold), moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position requires employees to travel regularly to off-site work locations and as such use of a vehicle will be provided.

Safety Requirements/Personal Protective Equipment

The employee will be required to wear all safety equipment (PPE) and comply with all health and safety policies and programs enforced by the Company.
