Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Videographers work within the Menards Media Production team to shoot video, record audio, and prepare sets for Menards TV commercials; along with other media production projects

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operating digital video cameras
  • Setting up camera stabilization and lighting equipment in the studios and on location
  • Building and staging sets, assembling products for shoots, and maintaining the studios
  • Directing talent
  • Uploading and backing up footage to shared storage systems
  • Coordinating with other Team Members and departments as needed

Skills/Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Visual Communication, Advertising or Communications; an emphasis in Experience with digital cinema cameras and interchangeable lenses
  • DSLR photography experience, especially product photography
  • Thorough understanding of exposure controls including shutter speed, aperture, ISO
  • Knowledge of video formats, frame rates, codecs
  • Understanding of camera stabilization equipment including tripod, jib, slider, track, and gimbal systems
  • Proficiency with lighting equipment including diffusion, light stands, barn doors, scrims, gels and flags; ability to light a scene in a studio or on location, experience with 3-point lighting, and lighting for chroma-key shots
  • Experience recording audio in the field
  • Ability to direct talent a make creative decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Should be hardworking, a self-motivator, and able to learn and take direction
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be accurate, have a good eye for details, and be creative with product shots
  • Experience working from a script, storyboard, shot list or creative brief
  • Home improvement and/or set building experience and ability to use power tools strongly recommended
  • Occasional heavy lifting required
  • Familiarity with Menards Stores and products very helpful
  • Ability to work within designated normal office hours - Monday-Friday, 40-45 hours/week - at the Corporate Office in Eau Claire, WI (remote work is not offered)
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, presently and in the future, without sponsorship
