We are hiring a per diem Nurse Practitioner to join our care team with Athena Hospice of Rhode Island!
This is to assist with on-call admissions visits. Candidate must be willing to travel. $100 a visit.

The nurse practitioner provides comprehensive hospice services and care through the evaluation and assessment of the health history, health promotion, diagnosis of medical conditions, management of health problems, prescribing medications or treatments, and other duties.

The nurse practitioner provides comprehensive hospice services and care through the evaluation and assessment of the health history, health promotion, diagnosis of medical conditions, management of health problems, prescribing medications or treatments, and other duties.
Experience & Education:
- Graduate from an accredited school or nursing and accredited nursing practitioner program.
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Rhode Island.
- CPR certified.
- DEA licensed.
- Master's degree with a minimum of one (1) year experience as an NP.
- One (1) year of hospice or palliative care experience.
- Accreditation from an approved certifying body for advanced practice nursing.
- Preferred certification in a specialist area such as hospice or pediatrics.
- Provides medical care, palliates, and manages terminal illness in compliance with the state Nurse Practice Act under the supervision of a collaborating physician.
- Completes history and physical examinations by evaluating the patient's medical condition and health history, ordering, and interpreting results from lab and diagnostic tests or procedures, diagnosing health conditions and documenting the findings in the patient's medical records.
- Manages health conditions and terminal illnesses by developing plans of care, prescribing medications and/or treatments, obtaining consultation or making referrals and coordinating hospice care services.
- Makes recommendations to the hospice medical director regarding patient eligibility for certification and recertification for hospice care.
- Reviews clinical information, and coordinates and oversees patient care in consultation with the hospice interdisciplinary team and other healthcare practitioners.
- Completes, maintains, and submits accurate and relevant clinical notes, physical examination notes, assessment visit notes, medical orders, collaboration notes and other documentation in the medical record.
- Ensures compliance with the Medicare conditions of participation and other state regulations governing the provision of healthcare.
- Builds from the resources in the community to plan and direct services to meet the needs of individuals and families.
