The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Health & Environmental Services Supervisor to support and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Fire Department. The Health & Environmental Services Supervisor earns a competitive salary of $31.31- $32.58/per hour based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We also offer a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match, life insurance, disability, access to the city's recreation fitness center, employee assistance program, educational assistance, 11 paid holidays and 2 designated paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and an active wellness program focusing on physical, mental, and financial health.

General Description

The purpose of this job within the organization is to supervise, manage, and assist with day to day cases loads.

This job works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Duties And Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this job. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Essential Functions

Supervises, manages, and assists code and health officers with caseloads.

Handles citizen complaints; provides interdepartmental assistance; oversees continuing education, payroll, supplies, and more.

Runs reports and ensures City codes are enforced.

Implements processes for officers to productively achieve their daily workload.

Prioritizes cases based on severity.

Ensures Snap agendas are updated, and cases are being worked and updated.

Keeps track of dilapidated structures list and follows through from beginning to end to ensure payments for invoices; performs lien placements.

Additional Duties

Attends departmental meetings.

Keeps crew informed of changes and updates daily.

Oversees performance measures and reports; manages budget and ensures invoices are paid; manages departmental payroll.

Ensures plan reviews and inspections are performed per policy.

Performs code ordinance reviews and makes occasional changes.

Orders departmental supplies and uniforms.

Conducts employee appraisals.

Performs related work as assigned.

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Requires an associate's degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college health or closely related field.

Requires four years code enforcement or closely related experience.

Special Certifications And Licenses

Valid Texas Driver License

Code Enforcement 1

Code Enforcement 2

Food Manager Certification

Emergency Management Responsibilities
