Leading a team of designers and content creators, the Creative Director transforms strategy into compelling campaigns and ensures the creative function serves as a driver of organizational excellence.

This role oversees the development of high-quality visual and narrative assets and ensures brand cohesion across Erlanger’s consumer-facing, internal, and philanthropic communications. The Creative Director is both a hands-on leader and a strategic voice—guiding creative direction, managing capacity and workflow, and collaborating closely with peer directors to advance integrated campaigns.

  • Participate in campaign planning meetings and strategy sessions to ensure creative alignment from the outset.

External Partner Collaboration & Vendor Stewardship

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with external partners including (but not limited to) creative agencies, media buyers, insights and data consultants, and other contracted marketing vendors.
  • Ensure external collaborators are aligned with Erlanger’s brand standards, strategic priorities, and campaign objectives.
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for partner coordination— managing timelines, approvals, feedback loops, and shared accountability for performance outcomes.

Campaign Oversight & Execution

  • Review and approve all major creative outputs, including campaign concepts, design templates, print and digital assets, video scripts, and messaging guidelines.
  • Ensure that all deliverables meet brand standards, marketing objectives, and audience needs.
  • Serve as the final authority on visual consistency and brand integrity across platforms.

System Engagement & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across the health system to understand audience perspectives and gain insight into evolving creative needs.
  • Ensure creative team members have access to the information and context needed to support clinical, administrative, and community based priorities.
  • Support storytelling and branding initiatives across service lines, internal departments, and Foundation activities.

Measurement, Reporting & Optimization

  • Collaborate with peer directors to develop performance metrics for creative campaigns, including engagement, reach, and conversion where applicable.
  • Incorporate audience feedback, campaign performance data, and brand audits into creative refinement.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts within the creative function to enhance workflow, output quality, and operational efficiency.
