Project Accountant

About the Job
We are looking for a Project Account that has a strong cost accounting background working in the commercial construction industry. The ideal candidate will be experienced with owner billings, processing subcontractor apps, accounts payable, and job costing. As well as assisting the Project Manager in performing the bookkeeping elements of the project to be completed more timely and accurately.

Position Responsibilities
Owner Billings:
- Set up new contracts
- Enter in SOV
- Process owner billings
- Route pay applications for payment, upon receipt of payment
- Post Subcontractor applications, request revisions/corrections/rejections.
- Payout pay applications that have been released, run report for final retainage release, and update watch lists
- Compare safety schedule to sworn statement
- Update check lists for waivers, safety, COI current, W9, WFB/ CP, sworn statements, pre-qualifications, BOND, lower tier unconditional waivers
- Route checks for signature
- Make requests for missing paperwork
- Enter in COs
- Re-request for checks on hold
- Submit special paperwork for owner billings
- AR follow-up on past dues
- Attach and complete data sheet to invoice
- Separate invoices into specific files for Project Manager approval
- Process approved invoices for payment
- Review all check runs with Controller
- Assist in developing detailed procedures
- Attach and complete data sheet to invoice
- Learn CSI and phase codes and effects on job costs
- Understand major variances from original and current estimates
- Understand major variances from original and current estimates
- Cost accounting in Construction is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principals
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
