About the Job
Core Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Delivery:
Designing and delivering engaging lessons on various social studies topics (history, geography, government, economics, etc.).
Instructional Strategies
Utilizing diverse methods like lectures, discussions, projects, and primary source analysis to make learning relevant and engaging.
Assessment And Evaluation
Regularly assessing student understanding and progress through various methods (tests, projects, presentations, etc.) and providing feedback.
Classroom Management
Creating a positive and safe learning environment that encourages participation and respect.
Individualized Support
Providing extra help or differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Collaboration
Working with other teachers, administrators, and special education staff to support student learning.
Professional Development
Staying updated on current research, best practices, and curriculum changes in social studies education.
Additional Duties
Parent Communication:
Meeting with parents to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
Extracurricular Activities
Participating in school events, clubs, and activities that promote student engagement and well-being.
Record Keeping
Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.
Community Engagement
Connecting with the local community and utilizing resources to enhance learning experiences.
