The Medic One Foundation is seeking a strategic and innovative Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and implement a bold communications strategy that will increase awareness, deepen engagement, and significantly grow support for our mission across Washington State and beyond. This is a leadership position responsible for advancing one of the Foundation’s top strategic priorities: building public awareness to catalyze next-level fundraising growth.
This role oversees all external communications and digital platforms and will drive compelling storytelling, cross-platform audience engagement, and mission-focused messaging. The ideal candidate will bring extensive nonprofit communications experience and a proven track record of designing and leading content driven campaigns that achieve measurable growth in reach, engagement, retention, and fundraising outcomes—especially in healthcare, public safety, or government-related sectors.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Salary: $115,000 - $130,000, comprehensive benefits package, 401k match, generous PTO, and the opportunity to make a measurable difference in the lives of people across Washington State.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team to position the Foundation as a statewide leader in EMS excellence and innovation.
- Partner with the Board of Directors to leverage their networks and leadership to broaden awareness, deepen community engagement, and enhance visibility among key stakeholders.
- Lead the development and execution of a multi-year communications and marketing plan aligned with the Foundation’s strategic plan and fundraising goals.
- Serve as chief storyteller and brand champion, ensuring consistent voice, tone, and visual identity across all materials and platforms.
- Set clear KPIs and performance metrics for audience growth, digital engagement, donor conversion, and media visibility; track, evaluate, and report regularly.
- Create and oversee content marketing campaigns to achieve 10x growth on targeted digital platforms (with a focus on LinkedIn and Instagram).
- Manage content creation, message testing, video production, and storytelling initiatives across email, social, and web.
- Oversee the Foundation’s website strategy, design enhancements, SEO/SEM performance, and analytics.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets, identifying opportunities for coverage and editorial placement.
- Develop media kits, press releases, and talking points to elevate the Foundation’s leadership and advocacy voice.
- Prepare internal leaders for media opportunities, public speaking, and thought leadership placements.
- Supervise and mentor the Communications Specialist, guiding project prioritization and professional growth.
- Work closely with Development and Program teams to align communications efforts with fundraising and program impact.
- Partner with external contractors (designers, writers, photographers, videographers) as needed.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field required; advanced degree a plus.
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications and marketing, preferably in nonprofit, healthcare, or government settings.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing content strategy and digital campaigns with significant audience growth and retention.
- Skills analyzing and evaluating audiences to identify segments that may be overlooked or underperforming.
- Strong media relations experience and crisis communication skills.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Proficiency in digital analytics, SEO, email marketing, and social media management tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Mailchimp, WordPress).
- Proven leadership, project management, and supervisory experience.
- Strategic thinker with a creative mindset and a roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic.
- Deep belief in the Foundation’s mission and the life-saving power of pre-hospital emergency care.
- Comfortable navigating the intersections of public safety, healthcare, philanthropy, and government.
- Full-time, exempt position (Monday through Friday with occasional after-hours meeting and event attendance off site).
- In-office-role located in our Bellevue office.
- Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic non-profit environment.
