Cleveland Clinic Children's Lakewood serves children from birth to young adulthood. With access to leading-edge diagnostic and treatment resources, as well as a total commitment to family-centered care, our primary care caregivers are well-equipped to diagnose and treat common, everyday illnesses, as well as childhood-related conditions, diseases and developmental issues.
This position will support Lakewood High School through School Based Healthcare. School-based healthcare is known nationally as a tool to eradicate health disparities among children and adolescents. School Based Health Centers (SBHCs) are community primary health centers that focus on achieving health equity for children and adolescents within local school districts. Some of the services these SBHCs provide are primary care, mental health care, dental health, nutritional education, health education and health promotion. While caregivers will be stationed primarily at Lakewood High School, during school breaks caregivers will float to other Family Health Centers.
Caregivers in this role work Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 4:15pm. There will be some school events in the evening and weekends that will be supported to promote clinic services.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or physician.
- Collect and document objective and subjective data and observations about patients.
- Complete nursing assessments and report all data.
- Implement the current nursing care plan, medication or treatment and communicate patients’ responses.
- Observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Perform routine laboratory tests.
- Educate patients and family members.
- Graduate of an approved school of practical nursing.
- Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practice Nurse.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- One year of patient care experience.
- Comfortability or experience working with adolescents
- Phlebotomy skills
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good hand-eye coordination, involves extensive standing walking and occasional lifting.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
- Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
