This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and highly-skilled civil engineer with a specialization in the design of infrastructure related to waterways, who wishes to be part of our expanding team. We are seeking candidates who want to work in a creative and collaborative environment at a project engineer level to help successfully deliver Muller’s numerous waterway, river restoration, and river recreation projects throughout the Rocky Mountain Region and on projects nationwide.

Our employees follow a hybrid work schedule, with majority of employees based throughout Colorado’s Front Range. We welcome applicants from across the continental United States, with a preference for those located in Colorado or willing to relocate.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design improvements such as river and stream restoration/stabilization measures, in-river recreational features, culverts, and storm drains, drop structures, diversions, major drainageway improvements, detention facilities, water quality features.
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, geomorphic evaluations, scour analyses, and assistance with environmental permitting.
- Erosion, scour, and sediment understanding, analysis, and control planning.
- Layout, preparation, and leadership in the preparation of construction drawings and details using AutoCAD Civil 3D, development of construction quantities, specifications, technical report writing, and construction engineering support.
- Coordinate and work with a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects.
- Guiding work of design engineers and technicians.
- Support Project Managers with client relations, stakeholder management, and subconsultant coordination.
- Assist Project Managers with project management duties. Project Manager will provide oversight and guidance of Project Engineers management responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
- A strong interest in river recreation—such as paddling or river surfing—is highly valued. While advanced river skills aren’t necessary, a deep understanding of how people engage with rivers for enjoyment and recreation is essential. This includes insight into the experiences of users of all types and ability levels.
- 5 to 9 years of experience in design of river and stream restoration/stabilization measures, channel stabilization and drop structures, major drainageway improvements, detention facilities, and water quality features.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic computer programs (HEC-RAS, SRH2D/SMS, Flo-2D, HEC-HMS, CUHP, SWMM, StormCAD, culvert/open channel design tools) and utilization of MHFD criteria desired.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- The ability to produce high-quality and concise drawings and specifications.
- Experience with review of drawings and specifications.
- Ability to meet project deadlines and identify critical paths.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Team oriented with strong collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
- Design of in-river recreation facilities and/or river recreation enthusiast.
- Construction observation experience or construction experience
- Experience with construction engineering oversight and related processes and procedures.
- Experience with MicroStation/ORD a plus.
- Graduate Degree or other professional experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado or ability for reciprocity from another state
