Description
Analytical research and development scientists are responsible for design and development of analytical methods to characterize ALTA products and in-process materials. The Scientist must adapt and routinely apply chromatographic, spectroscopic, and biological methods to the ALTA products that involve dilute antigens and insoluble ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) coatings. This role reports to the Head of Product Research and Development. Scientists are expected to work independently and use their judgement to design studies that address project team and functional area goals.
This is a full-time position, located in Boulder Colorado.

Salary and Benefits
The position may be filled at the Senior Scientist or Scientist level. The level will be determined by the applicant’s experience and alignment with current and future responsibilities.

Description

This is a full-time position, located in Boulder Colorado.
Responsibilities And Duties
- In-house resource for chromatography-based analytical method development.
- Independently researches, designs, and executes protocols to develop analytical methods.
- Works closely with the formulation team to perform and organize regular testing to support product development, investigations, product release, and stability testing.
- Qualifies analytical methods and assists in establishing specifications and transfer to CMC
- Maintains equipment and ensures that methods and equipment are fit-for-purpose.
- Contributes toward portions of IND or BLA eCTD module 2 and 3.
- Helps train Product Research and Development staff to address project needs.
- Works effectively and dynamically in cross-functional teams to complete partner projects.
- Serves as functional area representative in project meetings and helps present and explain team’s data both internally and externally.
- Adheres to Company policies and safety guidelines
- A PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or dissertation research focused on chromatographic characterization of biological materials, or Master’s Degree with 3 years industry experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years industry experience.
- Must be able to perform the responsibilities and duties listed above.
- Advanced analytical training in various separation and detection techniques and characterization of diverse analytes including but not limited to complex proteins, glycoproteins, VLPs, nucleic acids including messenger mRNA (mRNA), and/or small molecule or lipid-based adjuvants using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques is required.
- Experience with capillary electrophoresis (CE), gas chromatography (GC), various detectors (e.g. ELSD, CAD, RI), SPR (Surface Plasmon Resonance), BLI (Bio-Layer Interferometry), and ELISAs, preferred.
- Experience in qualification design and writing and executing protocols for chromatography-based analytical methods
- Proficient in writing Analytical Test Methods (ATMs) and Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs); Must be familiar with ICH Q8, Q9, Q10 and understand Quality by Design (QbD) expectations and defining Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs)
- Proficient in the use of statistical analysis methods and standard office tools like Excel.

- Senior Scientist: range $130,000 to $175,000 DOE
- Scientist I, II or III: range $100,000 to $140,000 DOE
