SUMMARY // The Youth Programs Instructor teaches and develops the skills of our youth team athletes as well as participants in our After-School Program, birthday parties, and youth groups. This role works with kids of all ages and abilities while providing excellent customer service to members and guests. The Instructor is expected to model and support a positive climbing experience, and manage group behavior with professionalism. They must ensure proper use of climbing gear and facility resources while delivering high-energy programming. This position requires regular communication with team members, youth participants, and their guardians. The Instructor must be comfortable enforcing facility rules while promoting a welcoming, engaging environment. They contribute to the maintenance and organization of youth spaces. Flexibility and passion for teaching are essential in this dynamic, youth-centered role.

Salary: $17 - $18 per hour
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide climbing instruction and training.
- Understand and execute principles of assessment and program design.
- Greet participants with enthusiasm and friendliness; strive to learn and use names.
- Address irresponsible behavior (e.g., running in fall zones, items on mats, guests sitting on mats).
- Monitor wall activity and ensure responsible use.
- Ensure youth remain in appropriate areas without disturbing members.
- Assist with maintaining facility cleanliness and resources.
- Foster a fun and inclusive climbing experience.
- Collaborate with the team and participate in occasional meetings and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position will be for all locations: Ogden, SLC, and SOMA
- A minimum of five years of professional experience, which may include a combination of workforce experience, higher education (college/university), or trade school training, with at least 1-2 years in climbing instruction and programming preferred.
- Passion for teaching and working with youth.
- Availability during afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
- Interest or active participation in outdoor sports such as climbing.
- Strong communication skills and ability to motivate youth positively.
- High energy and positive attitude with ability to work well in a team.
- First Aid and CPR certified; CWI certification (training provided upon hire).
- Able to take and pass SafeSport exam before first day (cost reimbursed by The Front).
- Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, reaching, and extended periods of standing or walking.
