Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE

The Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant will assist mortgage loan officers in increasing mortgage loan production by reviewing and processing loan applications and structuring and maintaining contact and care with customers from start to finish during the process of obtaining a mortgage.

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

• Provides applicants with information regarding the loan application process.
• Obtains complete loan application including all support documentation needed to process the loan.
• Reviews information and documentation received from the borrowers by examining applications, documentation, reviewing credit worthiness, income and calculating repayment risk.
• Assists Loan Officer in preparing preliminary loan packages for processing by obtaining missing documentation and other information from customers
• Responds to customers’ general questions regarding policy and procedures in the absence of the Loan Officer
• Updates customers, real estate agents, and titles companies on the loan’s progress
• Maintains Loan Officers’ databases of customer information
• Assists Loan Officers with marketing campaigns through mail, email, and internet
• Performs other administrative tasks, emailing, making telephone calls, to support the Loan Officer
• Screen and make calls, book appointments and provide administrative support as needed
• Follows up on processing the loan by obtaining additional applicant information if necessary.
• Maintains communication with the borrower during the mortgage loan process.
• Understands and supports the corporation’s policies and procedures to provide proper and effective treatment to all the credit union’s customers.
• Resolves any customer questions and disputes in an expeditious and tactful manner.
• Reviews and reports complaints from customers and recommends corrective action to management.
• Protects the credit union and the customer by keeping all mortgage loan information confidential.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Prior sales/lending experience with two years in indirect or residential first mortgage processing preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to demonstrate strong numerical reasoning skills, including the ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, calculate rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret graphs and other quantitative data. Working knowledge of Federal and State guidelines, rules and regulations such as RESPA, TILA, HMDA, etc. preferred. Ability to work independently with good project management skills and ability to adjust to ever changing environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent organizational skills, typing ability, and proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel. Detailed oriented.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical office environment.
