Operate mechanical boom and cable or tower and cable equipment to lift and move materials, machines, or products in many directions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily inspection of crane for safety prior to operation

  • Daily inspection of crane for safety prior to operation

  • Starts engine and maintains a safe working environment

  • Moves levels and pedals to rotate and move crane; raise and lower crane boom and load line in response to signals, as directed

  • May inspect and lubricate cables, pulleys, guides, drums and crane rigging gear

  • Report any incident, situations or activity that may affect the company's ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to the Superintendent or General Foreman.

Knowledge and Critical Skill/Expertise:

  • Must have current crane certification.

  • Fluent knowledge of Crane Signals.

  • Review and Understand load charts.

  • Rigging methods and equipment.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

  • Controlling operations of equipment or systems

  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

  • Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.

  • The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.

  • The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene.

  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or water craft.

  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.

  • Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles.

  • Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

  • Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.

  • Must maintain open & responsive communication with foreman & superintendent.

  • Must be well organized and demonstrate the ability to perform in a proficient manner the assigned duties.

  • Ability to perform duties and operation of equipment in strict compliance with OSHA rules and regulations.

  • Must report any incident, situation or activity that may affect the company's ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to jobsite management.

Requirements Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Minimum of Four (4) years of related experience

  • Possess Own Transportation.

  • Experience operating Rough Terrain, Crawler, or Truck cranes.

  • Experience operating cranes 30 tons and over.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Review, understand, and comply with load charts

  • Ability to perform duties and operation of the crane in strict compliance with OSHA rules.

  • Have punctual and on time work history.

Physical Demands:

  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical part, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions and vibration.

  • The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock and loud noise levels.

  • When operating equipment, subject to constant jarring of body due to jerking movement of equipment and operating on uneven surfaces.

  • Must be able to sit in the operator's seat of equipment and safely reach all pedals, switches, levers, buttons, etc. required to safely operate the equipment (if authorized for that piece of equipment);

  • Must be able to sit in the operator's seat of equipment and have an adequate field of vision of all instruments, gauges, warning lights, as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows and/or mirrors (if authorized for that piece of equipment);

Working conditions:

  • Will work in all typed of weather.

  • Work in different elevations.

  • Job site will contain light to heavy equipment, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools.

  • People standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking.

  • May be occasional bells, alarms, and whistles

  • Applicant may be subject to environmental conditions of extreme cold, noise exposure, constantly changing work environment, irregular surfaces, slippery surfaces, moving equipment, open excavations, temporary structures, and general construction hazards.
