Business Initiatives Analyst


Job Summary


The Business Initiatives Analyst procures and develops business opportunities and provides analysis of new and existing business areas. This position works on capture activities, proposals, and special projects. This position works collaboratively with other team members on the business development team to ensure the organization's growth objectives are met.

Essential Functions


(Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities)



  • Analyzes industry opportunities and applicability to organization strategic goals and initiatives.

  • Provides business acquisition support by tracking current state and federal government service industry trends and keeping management informed of new service requirements and changes to existing procurement trends.

  • Performs research activities such as bid forecasts, competitor and partner analysis, sector trends all in support of new business development, capture strategy, and proposal development.

  • Track and report operational metrics to ensure relevance, consistency, and accuracy.

  • Increase operational effectiveness in business development through data driven insights.

  • Encourages preparation for business growth through industry analysis and continual process improvement.

  • Creates reports on market status for a range of market types that the organization pursues.

  • Conducts in-depth research and analysis then issues reports on competitors and partners to understand their strengths, weakness and any risk to doing business with them.

  • Collaborates with existing business units to understand processes and coordinates solution development to amplify use of operational skills.

  • Coordinates response to Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) requiring interfacing with multiple internal teams, management, executives, external contractors, and other business partners.

  • Supports capture-related activities for potential opportunities.

  • Participates in color teams (blue, pink, red, gold) and in-process reviews for response compliance, completeness, messaging, solution definition, and guiding others when assistance is required to develop response.

  • Provides project support to multiple large-scale, complex projects, and proposal responses.

  • Attends conferences and industry days as required to support business development efforts and provides report outs to business development leadership and capture team.

  • Assists proposal managers in working with teaming partners to gather or provide needed content, provides coordination of information for compliance, finance, and internal and outside counsel as necessary, and communicates with the teaming partners as needed.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Business or closely related field OR equivalent work experience

  • 3 years' related work experience

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • In-depth experience developing proposal response material

  • Advanced written and communication skills

  • Understanding of federal, state, and local procurement practices and response development to RFIs, RFPs, and other procurement vehicles

  • Advanced ability to work under pressure


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Business Administration or related field

  • In-depth experience developing proposal response material

  • Advanced project management skills including time management and prioritization

  • In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local procurement practices and response development of RFIs, RFPs, and other procurement vehicles

  • In-depth understanding of healthcare administration services and operational objectives


Environment and Cognitive/Physical Demands



  • Office environment

  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve

  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage

  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers

  • Infrequent lifting to 15 pounds

  • Infrequent stooping

  • Travel up to 20%
