2021 IDB Invest Remote Winter Internship Program | Legal Department Legal Knowledge Management

Background of this search:

The IDB Invest Legal Department (GCL) is seeking for a highly qualified and motivated an active graduate student (Master or PhD) or recent graduate (graduate level program) to work with our Legal Knowledge Management Champions as a Remote Intern under Products and External Services Consultant (PEC) modality.

The team's mission:

Our department advises Management, the Board of Executive Directors and the Board of Governors on all legal matters relating to IDB Invest. As part of its functions, we provide a full range of legal support to non-sovereign guaranteed operations throughout the entire transaction cycle, including origination, portfolio management, and workouts, and the development of new products. Also, we provide legal advice on all institutional and financial matters for IDB Invest, including governance, financial management, institutional integrity, and administration of human resources.

What you will do:

As a remote intern, you will assist our team of highly specialized counsel under the direction of the Legal Knowledge Management Champions, who will supervise your activities during the internship period.

  • Support the development of Legal Knowledge Management initiatives that may include model or contract automation and management, conditions precedent platform and a learning and development hub; to support more efficient and effective legal operations, in coordination with other IDB Invest departments.

  • Provide research assistance to support Legal Knowledge Management Champions to develop a project plan for the chosen initiative, considering existing software and applications constraints such as SharePoint, Power BI, MS Office, Oracle, Cognos or Tableau.

  • Support in the design and implementation of the chosen technological solutions using existing IDB Invest's software and applications in relation to the chosen Legal Knowledge Management initiative, including identification of issues, decision points and risks arising from User Acceptance Test processes.

  • Participate in the communication within the implementation team and the development of cases for quality assurance and user acceptance tests.

  • Produce a variety of written technical and user documentation and materials, including functional requirements validation for quality assurance and business requirements and needs, in relation to the chosen Legal Knowledge Management initiative using a wide range of office software applications.

Deliverables and Payments timeline:

Deliverable 1: Report with findings and analysis of existing software and applications and proposal of a technological solution for the chosen Legal Knowledge Management initiative.

Deliverable 2: Reports on the advancements in the implementation of the technological solution using existing software and applications.

Deliverable 3: Technical and user documentation and materials as need arises during the implementation of the chosen Legal Knowledge Management initiative including but not limited to functional requirements validation for quality assurance and business requirements and needs.

Delliverable 4: Status reports of the chosen Legal Knowledge Management initiative.

The payment schedule will be as following: 25% on January 30, 25% on February 15, 25% on February 28, and 25% on March 15, 2021.

What you will need:

  • Education: Active graduate student (Master or PhD. program) or recent graduate from a graduate level program (maximum of 1 year after graduation date) in information technology, computer science, or another relevant field, or a law school student with an interest significance in IT skills.

  • Experience: Minimum two years of experience.

  • Languages: Be proficient in English and preferably with a working knowledge of one of the Bank's additional official languages (e.g. Spanish, Portuguese, or French).

  • Soft Skills: Self-management, flexibility, dependability, relationship building, results-driven, with strong communication skills.

  • Technical skills:

  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of programming, experience with automation and data bases.

  • Experience in participating in projects and innovative initiatives, most preferably within legal services

  • Experience in a law firm Knowledge Management role, library, business development, legal practice, or related discipline

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proven team orientation, proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within and across institutional boundaries.

  • Ability to work independently, seeking guidance on complex issues from senior staff.

  • Advance proficiency level in SharePoint, Microsoft Office Apps, Visual Basic, SQL, HTML, PHP and JavaScript.

  • Knowledge of BPM tools like VISIO or BIZAGI

Remote Internship under PEC modality Requirements:

  • To be part of our Remote Internship you will need to comply with all the following requirements:

  • Be minimum 23 years of age as of the starting date of the remote internship.

  • Be an active graduate student (Master or PhD. program) or recent graduate from a graduate level program (maximum of 1 year after graduation date) in accredited University,

  • For active graduate students, submit academic transcripts as an attachment to the application, demonstrating a minimum of 50% of coursework completion and issued within the last 3 months.

  • For recent graduates, submit a valid certificate with graduation date not older than January 16, 2019 as an attachment to the application.

  • Not be former staff member, Complementary Workforce ("CW"), contractors for the Corporation or the Bank or have previously provided services to the Corporation or the Bank through a contractor or under any other contractual modality.

  • Not have family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB or IDB Invest.

  • Have access to Internet connection on the post of hire.

Candidates with more than 3 applications in the 2021 Remote Winter Internship Program for IDB, IDB Lab, and IDB Invest will be automatically disqualified.
