Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) provides services used by nearly every citizen of the State. Colorado citizens utilize identification, driver, and vehicle services at State and County offices to obtain identification cards, driver licenses, vehicle registrations, titles, and other related services. Additionally, the DMV licenses and provides oversight of private businesses and government organizations that provide driver and emission testing services. Finally, the division works closely with other state agencies and programs to provide information and education to serve the public and encourage voluntary compliance.
Description of Job
Designs, develops, and delivers training courses to address training needs and requests for the State and Counties across the state. Determines course objectives, content, method of delivery, and training activities for training requested. Updates training materials and the appropriate training program as needed based on statute revisions or policy changes. Implements the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) training program, location selection, demonstrating procedures, and reviewing and updating training plans.
Performs DMV or county employee certification training. Executes employee policies and procedures training. Creates web based trainings and webinars to train local and state wide staff on job related tasks.
Provides technical assistance and support for inquiries and issues related to DRIVES. This includes answering phone calls, managing service desk tickets, and visiting offices to provide end user assistance. Position responds to customer inquiries within established timeframes. Position notifies management if a high volume of inquiries are being received to ensure back-up assistance is provided to maintain a high level of support.
Develops communication documents by request including memos, job aids, email communications, and newsletter articles. Scans, formats, and converts various materials for management, graphics, research, reports, and committees.
Designs, develops, and delivers training presentations relating to topical subjects for internal staff and county personnel.
Executes training logistics: furnishing training materials and supplies, checking equipment, registering attendees and distributing, collecting, and analyzing evaluation forms and tests.
Assists in conducting studies and assessments to pinpoint training needs for vehicle or ID document processing. Distributes survey instruments, collects data, prepares reports, and determines strategies for achieving short-term and long-term objectives.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Training, Higher Education, Technology or related field of study.
- Two years of full-time professional experience employed in a position that is responsible for developing and/or delivering business systems training to adult learners in a class-room and/or virtual setting.
Additional experience as listed above will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Additional education as listed above will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
The preferred candidate will possess the following:
- Additional years experience designing and delivering training to adult learners.
- 2 or more years experience working on a technical customer service team.
- 2 or more years experience working in a county or state motor vehicle office
- 2 or more years working professionally in business administration, information systems, technical customer service or other related field.
- 2 or more years help desk experience
- 2 or more years experience working in public service at the federal, state, county, or local level
- Instructional Design Experience
- Additional experience developing and delivering training to adult learners
- Experience using audio/visual equipment and materials
- Intermediate to advanced PowerPoint skills
- Experience creating Web-based Training modules
- Experience working in a position that required regular overnight travel throughout Colorado.
