The purpose of this internship involves implementing written positive behavior support plans as directed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), with direct BCBA supervision. The intention is not only to adhere to the internship requirements from the school as applicable, but we will also provide the tools and training in order to implement one-on-one behavioral interventions and skill development activities to provide services usually to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, related developmental disabilities, and challenging behaviors ages 0 through 21 in the child's home, center, or other community-based settings.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Higher Education Institution (AA, BA, MA), preferably in the health services field

  • Previous experience with children preferred

  • Must have the ability to satisfy a background check and comply with the company's drug free workplace policy

  • Must have software and computer proficiency: Must have knowledge and ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Must be able to commit to set schedule once hired and schedule determined

  • Reliable transportation required

  • Driver's License preferred, or may be required dependent on location

  • Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced learning environment

  • Social interaction skills including pretend and parallel play

  • Critical thinking skills, with strong analytical abilities

  • Must display energy and creativity

  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to meet scheduling commitments

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships. Must be able to communicate information and ideas by speaking in a way in which others will understand

  • Must maintain confidentiality and abide by ethical guidelines and policies, including compliance with HIPAA laws and regulations

  • Maintain professional boundaries with clients and their families.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:


Operational



  • Implement one-on-one behavioral interventions and skill development activities to provide services usually to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, related developmental disabilities, and challenging behaviors

  • Implement individuals' treatment plan daily, maintaining knowledge of current status of goals and recommendations, to include daily data recording of goals

  • Learning goals and objectives identified by Supervisor and intern to provide developmental growth and learning opportunities

  • Review data with BCBA and/or Supervisor to ensure services provided are correct and recording data is accurate

  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate record of services delivered, time worked, and mileage/expenses incurred

  • Act as a liaison between family/individual and professionals providing services to the individual.

  • Attend monthly wrap around meetings with BCBAs and family, if applicable. This may require email and phone contact with appropriate providers

  • Participate in short periodic check-in surveys to review current status of internship

  • Attend developmental trainings with Supervisor to enhance understanding of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis

Growth & Development



  • Develop and maintain partnerships and effective ongoing communication with contracting entities in order to promote quality services and customer satisfaction

  • Complete new hire training and attend other in-service or bi-monthly training as recommended

  • Complete and remain current in First Aid/CPR/AED for Adults and Pediatrics, Safety Care, Blood Borne Pathogens, HIPAA, Ethics, Cultural Diversity, and Mandatory Reporting Training

  • Develop and maintain clinical skills through ongoing training and mentorship in Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Opportunities for development of skills and creating resources for treatment programming to include in a future portfolio
