  • Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Information Security or related field; Master's Degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in Information Security or a related IT discipline with an emphasis in information security consultation, risk assessment, and security compliance-related activities.

  • Preferred Industry recognized certification in Information Security such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC).

  • Experience with common vulnerability publications and resources such as Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS), National Vulnerability Database (NVD), Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE), Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE), and Common Platform Enumeration (CPE).


Preferred qualifications:


Preference will be given to individuals who possess:


o Vulnerability Assessment: 5 years


o Security Analysis: 5 years


o Compliance/Testing: 5 years


o NIST Standards: 5 years


o Risk Assessment: 5 years


o Security Engineering: 5 years

Class Summary


This is the first level in the Administrative Management series. Incumbents work in an administrative management role for an assigned program, department, or functional area. Major duties and responsibilities include: supervising, training, and evaluating subordinate managers and staff; managing budgets and grants to ensure compliance with district policies, regulations, and procedures; assisting in the development of strategy, process and procedures for assigned program, department, or functional area; managing daily operations and activities; preparing and reviewing reports and other communications; implementing solutions; serving as liaison and primary contact for assigned area in public relations, communications and outreach efforts; and performing professional level work in assigned area.



  • Provide leadership to the Information Security Office (ISO) through delegated responsibility by the VC/CIO for the security of all protected information collected, used, maintained, or released by MCC.

Typical Essential Duties



  • Develops, implements, and monitors an organizational understanding to manage cybersecurity risk to systems, people, assets, data, and capabilities.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to ensure the delivery of critical services.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors appropriate activities to identify the occurrence of a cybersecurity event.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors appropriate activities to take action regarding a detected cybersecurity incident.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors appropriate activities to maintain plans for resilience and to restore any capabilities or services that were impaired due to a cybersecurity incident.

  • Uses continuous improvement best practices to maintain the institutions security posture.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.


Knowledge



  • Technical and operational proficiency with or working knowledge of a wide array of computer hardware, operating systems, and software.

  • Knowledge of Critical Security Controls (SANS, CSIS).

  • Ability to conduct independent research and analyze complex requirements, including CSF, FRS, NIST, and FISMA security standards, determining impact and implementation.

  • Ability to analyze and assess complex technical plans regarding security compliance standards.

  • Ability to understand, develop, and propose changes to internal procedures in response to environmental changes.

  • Solid written and oral communication skills; communicate effectively with all levels of management, peers, organizations within the client system, customers, and outside vendors.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

  • Must be a non-smoker.

  • The minimum requirements may be waived by the College President.
