- PROFIT AND LOSS RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL STORES IN DISTRICT:
- Review Profit and Loss with each store manager once per period. Coach and teach shortfalls.
- Review labor on a daily basis for each store in your district to ensure we make budget for each period.
- Review sales with each store weekly and teach best practices for optimizing sales in all areas of store.
- Review each perishable inventory with store managers to ensure we have proper numbers to evaluate profitability.
- Review purchase reports on a weekly basis with store manager to be prepared for the 4 week recap.
- Review 4 week recap of each store to ensure accuracy of billing and forward any questions to proper stakeholder. (Include General Manager and Director of Operations)
- Review shrink numbers with store manager, after each inventory, and provide assistance in maintaining and achieving the goals set.
- COMMUNICATE AND LISTEN
- Communicate effectively the programs and expectations of Houchens Industries, Inc.
- Listen to the concerns of our store management and communicate up-the-chain those concerns to the proper stakeholders.
- Have an open door policy for our associates, and communicate those concerns to avoid crisis.
- Keep ongoing and consistent documentation on all store managers to aid in the preparation of each store manager’s annual performance review.
- ABILITY TO HIRE OR PROMOTE THE RIGHT STORE MANAGER
- Having the right store manager is the key to having a successful division. Hiring the most well-rounded store manager to fit the needs of the community that the store is located in, is vital.
- Building the bench by having a strategy in place to secure operations in the event of any crisis. Always having the next RIGHT manager and assistant in place is key.
- BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ALL DEPARTMENTS THAT IS REQUIRED:
- Basic knowledge of all perishable operations to ensure our freshness and and profitability.
- Ability to walk department and recognize any lack of freshness and cleanliness.
- Ability to coach and teach any shortfalls in freshness and cleanliness in our perishable departments.
- Ability to use best practices to help effectively merchandise all areas of our stores for maximum sales
- Ability to communicate our needs to Directors and Merchandisers, including any opportunities and
- STORE WALKS
- Perform a thorough store walk once per period to recognize any areas of concern, and draft an action
- Perform a cash audit on the day you do a store walk to ensure proper accountability of our business
- HUMAN RESOURCE FILES AND TRAINING
- Ensure that all HR files are completed and documentation is forwarded to payroll.
- Ensure that each of the following is completed, depending upon what the specific associate position

- Must have a valid driver’s license
